To my wondeful blogging friends: can anyone give me a CSS code to make the background semi-transparent that works? Nothing I can find seems to :( Or a possible reason as to why this may be the case?
I like the background with the stamps, it looks cool :)

Aw haha, thank you! I bought a whole load of wrapping paper at my Granny's, and we wanted to try it out as a background, so I love the stamps, I just don't like having a massive white blob in the middle of the page :P
